Have you actually played DCUO? I have quite a bit and it's an entirely different business model from Dust514. DCUO is massively pay to win and actually not really free to play but rather freemium. Allow me to explain: in DCUO you only get very basic access to end game content and can not take part in any player trade or even purchase items beyond a very limited value with in-game cash. Only after paying a certain small amount can you use trading but still only have limited access to in-game currency (even if you earn thousands, you can only carry a tiny amount at a time and the rest is locked away in your 'escrow' account, which you need to pay real money to access). The only way to get full access to player trading and full currency use is to pay a monthly subscription, which IMHO is far too expensive.
These currency limitations mean you have absolutely no way to get higher tier gear if you want to play entirely for free. But even beyond that DCUO also has tonnes upon tonnes of stuff to spend real money on and they shove it down your throat constantly with pop-up reminders and locked access signs that redirect you to the real money store. And even then on top of that there's paid DLC, at least half a dozen! This DLC locks non paying players out of the higher level missions, characters, gear, powers and some cool aesthetic stuff. They even give you a 'lair' but you can't do anything with it at all unless you get the extra DLC to do so! Oh yeah, and don't even think about the PVP server unless you're a paying customer because you will get your butt handed to you every single time.
Dust514 is absolutely nothing even remotely like DCUO. Granted DCUO is fun and there is a lot to do but the business model is horrendous for players. In Dust514 nothing is locked off from free players and anything that can be gained using real money can be equally obtained using in-game currency after spending a bit more time playing. This is the way free to play games should be.
TL:DR - there is just no comparison between Dust514 and DCUO.

Oh and just as a slight aside, even with all those juicy profits SOE has been making from DCUO, after 3 years (since beta began) the game is still horrendously buggy, crashes regularly and mission glitches destroy hours of progress. There was a really annoying audio dropout bug when I first started playing early this year - I found forum posts about it from much earlier; last I played (a few weeks ago), that same exact bug still existed. Good job SOE doesn't have any involvement in the development of Dust514 or this game would be even more messed up!
